A Study of Sensory Learning in a Garden Classroom: Enhancing Student Engagement and Achievement FOR ALL in Outdoor Education

A study of the Ideal meeting space: Exploring the Use of Found Objects and Playful Thinking in Office Spaces.

The Kokeroo is a mobile learning space that encourages parents to bring their babies to the library to discover books. The project aimed to create a playful, intimate space that encouraged parents and young children to explore books and connected objects together.

Over eight years, I collaborated with BOZAR - Centre of Fine Arts, Brussels, on yearly one-day events around their current exhibition. Although they were called family days my goal each time was to create an engaging space and experience for everyone, regardless of age or ability.

The Vasa Lab was designed and built within the Ixelles museum and was specifically tailored to preschoolers. The design featured interactive spaces that allowed children to explore and interact with Vasarely’s artworks and preschool concepts. The activities were set up to speak to each child’s varying interests and abilities, freeing them and the teachers from too many rules and instructions..

This small urban space was designed to be inspiring and inviting for young children. It incorporated ideas from the Reggio Emilia approach with various materials and found objects children could use to explore different concepts. The central idea of the space was to provide a space for children that fostered hands-on play and unstructured learning.
